Gachagua's Visit: Villagers Speak Out Against Current Regime (2025)

Are the residents of Evurore Ward struggling to survive? Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua paints a stark picture, claiming that villagers are suffocating under the current administration's policies. During his visit to Kanyueri, Kiambundu, Ciurari, and Mbaraga villages, Gachagua shared a 'jovial village conversation' with locals, where he listened to their grievances. He openly discussed what he called the 'brutal regime' with them.

According to Gachagua, the villagers expressed deep frustration, stating they are struggling to make ends meet. He reported that they feel economically strangled, with declining business and oppressive taxes. But here's where it gets controversial... Gachagua claims the villagers told him, 'They can hardly breathe anymore. Their muguka business is down and taxes are choking them.'

He described the residents as overwhelmed and exhausted, with despair dominating their conversations. During his visit, Gachagua also discussed 'the beautiful story of Newton Karish' and the upcoming November 27, 2025, by-elections in Mbeere North. This was part of his engagement with the community in preparation for the elections. He also enjoyed the hospitality of Mbuvuwa Kiarani's family, known as Kang’aka, sharing tea and bread with them.

The villagers, according to Gachagua, are steadfast in their political choices. He stated, 'The villagers confided in me that they will never allow betrayal of their son, Newton Karish.'

Gachagua's remarks add fuel to the already heated political climate in the region, with local leaders increasing their outreach efforts and residents voicing their concerns about economic pressure and security. This comes after the former DP intensified his grassroots mobilization in Mbeere North, encouraging residents to vote in large numbers on November 27. He is backing Newton Karish of the Democratic Party, whom he believes is a people-focused candidate who can bring about change.

Gachagua plans to continue visiting homes and villages to spread his 'liberation agenda,' framing the campaign as a movement to build a stronger and more united Kenya. He stated, 'I am with the villagers every step of the way,' focusing on reaching people 'one by one, home by home, village by village.' What do you think about the economic struggles described by the former Deputy President? Do you agree with his assessment, or do you have a different perspective?
